What is Adventure-Based Therapy?
Adventure therapy can occur indoors or outdoors as well as in urban or rural settings. It incorporates games, trust activities and wilderness based programming. Trailhead Therapists and Mentors incorporate kinesthetic and natural elements into many of our sessions with activities such as hiking, fire-crafting, fishing, tandem canoeing, orienteering, climbing, tracking, archery, swimming, hiking, biking, carving/carpentry, wilderness exploration and more.
Engaging in outdoor adventures, physical activity, art and learning creates an environment where clients can build self-esteem and confidence. In adventure based therapy, an individual may open themselves up in ways they may not through traditional office-based therapy.
